The Mayan religion had a heavy influence on the rest of the Mayan culture. It is most well known for influencing the art, architecture, language, mathematics and astronomical developments of the time. Mayan influence on the world can be seen as far as central Mexico, more than 1000km from the main Mayan hub in south of Mexico and in northern Central America. The Mayan calendar is the most well known remnant of texts and writings from the time. The calendar is of remarkable accuracy being able to count the days of the year and predict the time of the eclipses and equinoxes. This complex calendar and it’s sophisticated counting system was adopted by the civilisations surrounding them. E.g. the Aztecs.
